Abstract:On the basis of the VTEC data given from Guangzhou GPSTEC observational network, the characteristics of ionosphere VTEC above South China region before 7.2 earthquake in Taiwan on 26 Dec. 2006 and Wenchuan 8.0 earthquake on 12 May 2008 are analyzed with the reference of the mean and standard deviation for 15 days. As a result,we found that the anomaly of ionosphere VTEC over South China region before the earthquakes took place continuously for 8 days and then the abnormal characteristics responding to two strong earthquakes are discussed and contrasted with the other from some literature. Further more the preliminary discussion on the mechanism of ionosphere anomaly caused by strong earthquake is down.
