Abstract:In earthquake acceleration monitoring, quick and accurate event detection is significant. The STA/LTA algorithm based on original earthquake acceleration data is often used in event detection (triggering Pwave). A strategy is presented,which at first,processes the earthquake acceleration data in two ways bandpass filtering and velocity data computing then uses the STA/LTA algorithm.The study shows that bandpass filtering and velocity data computing can both enhance the effect on event detection,hopwever, the effects of second and fourth order bandpass filtering are slightly different and it is better by using second order bandpass filtering and velocity data computing.
