Abstract We design and implement a nondestructive measurement method for the spatial distribution of coseismic surface rupture and an automatic measurement tool based on the Python platform; the method can obtain the spatial distribution and width of surface fractures with the same degree of precision as the original data. We take the Maduo MW7.4 earthquake in 2021 and the Idaho Lost River MW6.9 earthquake in 1983 as examples. The results show that this method can measure and map the spatial distribution of surface rupture automatically and flexibly.
