Abstract Based on the results of strain rate field and slip deficit in the northeastern margin of Tibetan plateau obtained from the crustal movement observation network of China, the principal tensile strain and shear strain in the northern part of Longzhong basin tectonic area, the principal compressive strain and shear strain in the central Qilian block and western Qaidam block, and the principal tensile strain and shear strain in the eastern Qiangtang block, have reached their highest values since 1998. The blocking part of the northern margin of western Qinling fault is unevenly distributed. Except for the Alakehu-Tuosuohu section, the slip deficit of other parts of the eastern Kunlun fault is reduced, but are higher as a whole. Excluding the Tuosuohu and Maqu sections, the blocking rate of other parts is evenly distributed. The Xiugou-Maqu section maintained a high slip deficit. The slip deficit and slip rate of Liupanshan fault increase. The Xiugou-Maqu section of eastern Kunlun fault, Guyuan-Jingyuan section of Liupanshan fault, Hasishan-Machangshan section of Haiyuan fault, Subei Kuantanshan section of the northern margin of Altun fault, Yumen and Sunan sections of the northern margin of Qilian fault, Tianshui and Luanfeng sections of the northern margin of western Qinling fault may be blocked.
