Characteristics of Vertical Deformation and Fault Activities of Xiannüshan Fault Zone in the Three Gorges Region
Abstract The fault activity characteristics of north and middle sections of Xiannüshan fault zone are analyzed by using the cross-fault leveling data of the Three Gorges for several years. The results show that the Xiannüshan fault zone has segmented activity characteristics. The north section is compressional reverse fault, and its activity is weak, while the middle section is tensional normal fault, and its activity is stronger. In addition, the fault activity of north section of Xiannüshan fault zone is influenced by the impoundment of the Three Gorges reservoir and earthquake activities.
