Abstract A comparative analysis of the 231 earthquakes(MSL≥2.0)in the Three Gorges area recorded by both the telemetry seismic network in Three Gorges and the digital seismological network of Hubei province from June 2007 to December 2009 was carried out. The results show that the average magnitude from the telemetry seismic network in the Three Gorges is larger than that from the digital seismological network of Hubei province, as 2.0≤MSL<2.5, MSL is larger than MHL by 0.16 magnitude; as 2.5≤MSL<3.2,
MSL is larger than MHL by 0.11 magnitude; as MSL≥3.2,
MSL almost equals to MHL.
