Abstract Using the GPS velocity field data from 1999-2007,we studied the movement and state of YanshanBohai zone and calculated the relative movement of different parts in different periods. In 1999-2001 period, Yinshan zone was a leftlateral extension strike slip belt with the slip rate less than 1.0mm/a and extension rate less than 1.35 mm/a,in 2001-2004 and 2004-2007 periods, it kept leftlateral strike slip with the rate of 0.04 mm/a-1.59 mm/a, but the extensional feature was not obvious. Furthermore, its motion became obviously slow in 2001-2004. The deformation character of ZhangjiakouBohai zone was left lateral strike slip in the three periods with amplitude of 0.7 mm/a-1.55 mm/a. Though its deformation state varied from time to time, the rate was always less than 1.0 mm/a. In conclusion, it was compressed in the north and west of YanshanBohai zone while tensed in the southern and eastern part.
