PLATE MOVEMENT PARAMETER DETERMINATION WITH SEMIPARAMETRIC MODEL

Abstract In order to surmount many deficiencies in determining the parameters of plate movement by least square(LS) method , we have set up a semiparametric model based on compensated LS principle. With this model, the Euler vectors of the main plates were calculated by use of the ITRF2005 velocity. Through comparison with the NNRNUVEL1A model we found that both of these models are consistent with each other when the observation stations are symmetrically distributed and the station numbers are enough. Moreover, the semiparametric model has more expositive capabilities than that of the LS method.
