Abstract Using the Chapman function and the ionosphere inversion methods and processes combined with the spherical harmonic function. The ionospheric electron density is calculated by using the data measured from the GPS CORS in the Chinese region under the static subsolar. The delays through the ionosphere calculated are compared with the known data and the RMSE of residuals is 0.311 m. The ionospheric electron density variations of the vertical structure and the certain height level of ionosphere are also analyzed. The results show that from the residuals analysis and the electron density trend, the accuracy of the electron density calculated with the method is high and it can be more intuitive to reflect the consistency of the electron density changes between different layers of ionosphere.
