Abstract The highfrequency data of the gPhone gravimeter recorded during the earthquake is crucial data for researches on the source rupture process . In this paper, we analyzed coseismic signal recorded by six gPhone gravitymeters in the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake. The results show that:1)we can completely obtain the seismic wave image showing the initial moments and its decaying process. Compared with the data of the broadband seismometer, we confirmed that observation of gPhone gravitymeter is a true record of the source rupture process.2)by means of empirical Green’s function and synthesizing theory graphics,compared with the inverted results from seismic data, we proved that the highfrequency data of gPhone gravitymeters can be.greatly used in the research of the source rupture process.
