Abstract Classifying and summarizing the characteristics of disaster damage of subway station, subway excavation with cutandcover method and shield tunnel, the article makes preliminary analysis of the reason of instability by unifying the seismic damage performance of the Kobe subway in the great Han Shin earthquake in Japan.Through the analysis it is turned out that there are three basic kinds of damage:bent damage,shear damage and joint damage from the above both and it is found that the main cause of the subway damage is adjoining rock instability and the structure in shallow layer.
