Abstract The deformation characteristic changes of the crustal tilt surface in Longmenshan fault zone before Wenchuan \%M\%s8.0 earthquake is discussed.The analysis shows that before the earthquake in the horizontal deformation change tilt surface there appeared the compresional characteristics from the two sides to central part of the fault zone and in the vertical deformation change of the Houshan fault which is on the northwest side of the Longmenshan fault was continuously lifting and the Qianshan fault on the southeast side of the Longmenshan fault subsiding.The Wenchuan area near the seismic focus presented evidently accelerative and inccreasing of the vertical and horizontal deformation characteristics from late 2005 to 2006.
