ON CHARACTERISTICS OF WAVE VELOCITY RATIO IN BADONG AREASINCE SECOND IMPOUNDMENT OF THREE GORGES RESERVOIR

Abstract The characteristics of wave velocity ratio of microearthquakes in Badong area since the second impoundment of Three Gorges reservoir are studied. The results show that the wave velocity ratio decreases before an earthquake and increases after the earthquake.The variations of wave velocity ratio reflect the microcrack failure and corrosion of the medium in the focal region caused by water before and after an earthquake.
