Abstract In order to solve the weakness in traditional calibration methods，a device for calibrating tiltmeter on the spot was designed which can generate slight tilt.A test was done using the device to calibrate a VPtype Tiltmeter which was continuous observing in a cave.The result shows that the standard deviation of the scale value is 9414 mV/ms.
