Abstract In this paper, we use the wave equation finite-difference method for forward modeling of the active fault model by setting different observation system parameters. Combining this with the application of practical urban active fault detection data, we obtain acquisition parameters that are suitable for shallow urban active fault detection. The results show that using the observation methods of small group intervals, mini-shot intervals and appropriate seismic frequency gets high quality shallow seismic data, which is conducive to improving the positioning accuracy of the breakpoint.
