Abstract:By use of the repeated observational data of regional leveling network since 1970s and combining with the geologic tectonic and the recent earthquakes(Ms≥6.0) in the monitored area, the distribution of the background abnormity of vertical deformation before and after strong earthquakes in different tectonic conditions of QilianshanHexi corridor and Chuandian areas are analyzed emphaticaly, and compared with several typical seismic cases in North China. The generality and individuality characteristics of background abnormity of regional vertical deformation related to earthquake genesis in various tectonic conditions are summarized.Finally its mechanism and the meaning for forecasting the place where strong earthquakes occur are discussed.
