Abstract:Based on the digital waveform data of the regional seismograph network in Hubei province, using seismological and geological methods, we obtain the present crustal tectonic stress field in the northeastern margin of Jianghan basin. The results show that the crust in the studied area is moving in a SEE direction under the influence of the horizontal force source in the NWW direction, leading to the strike-slip shear failure with a small amount of thrust between the Zaoshi and Changjiangbu faults within the depth of 4-6 km. The seismic swarm activity is related to the fault activity since the Paleogene.
