Abstract:In terrestrial laser scanning, sphere target is an important accessory. With it, multiple point clouds data obtained form different views can be transformed into the same coordinate system frame. In order to complete the task mentioned above, determination of sphere target centre is a key. The common method to locating sphere center coordinate is least square. A new method for determining sphere target centre by total least squares is presented.On the basis of this model, the errors and the coefficient matrix can be corrected at the same time. Experiments using simulation data and real data were conducted. From the real point clouds results,it is shown that the proposed method is effective.
