Abstract By calculating the static Coulomb failure stress changes of some Ms≥6 earthquakes in KashiWuqia region and Keping block region in the western part of southern Tianshan mountain, Xinjiang since 1955, the triggering effect on the following earthquakes is analyzed. The result shows that most strong earthquakes in Kashi-Wuqia region encourage the following earthquake activity increasing, while most strong earthquakes in Keping block region relieve earthquake risk in its neighboring region to some degree.
